The day started in the heart of New Orleans, in Clouet Gardens, located in the vibrant Bywater neighborhood. This couple wanted something laid-back, intimate, and true to their own style, which was clear from the start. They skipped the traditional first look and any prep shots. Instead, we began the day with portraits as they strolled through Clouet Gardens and along the streets of Bywater. I captured them in natural light, with the rich colors of New Orleans’ iconic Bywater neighborhood framing every shot—a dream for any New Orleans wedding photographer.
After a relaxed walk through Bywater, we headed over to the unique and eclectic Music Box Village. This venue, with its whimsical, interactive musical structures, provided the perfect backdrop for a ceremony and reception that broke the mold. Guests enjoyed a lively cocktail hour while the bride and groom made their rounds, greeting friends and family. With no formal processional, they simply asked everyone to take a seat and began the ceremony—a refreshing twist that made the moment feel even more personal. Seven friends and family members came forward to share blessings, offering heartfelt words that filled the ceremony with warmth and laughter.
Once the ceremony wrapped up, the evening naturally flowed into the reception. First dances kicked off the dancing, and I was able to capture the couple’s expressions and their loved ones cheering them on. Toward the end of the evening, Pizza Delicious, a local favorite, arrived with fresh pies. The guests loved it, and it was a perfect touch to end a beautiful celebration in true New Orleans style.
Documenting this wedding reminded me of why I love being a wedding photographer in New Orleans. The couples here have a sense of tradition blended with creativity and spontaneity, making each event truly unique. This Bywater celebration was no exception, and it was an honor to capture every moment for this incredible couple.
