I recently had the honor of photographing a wedding for close friends I’ve known for years, and it was such a special experience. The day started at a charming BnB in the New Orleans Garden District, where I captured the bride getting ready with her sisters. We also did a first look with her father, bridesmaids, and some lovely portraits of her on the balcony. My second photographer, meanwhile, was at the New Orleans Athletic Club (NOAC), documenting the groom as he got ready.
The ceremony took place at NOAC, which made for a stunning and emotional setting. As Lisa, the bride, walked down the aisle, I couldn’t help but get emotional myself. Watching Josh, the groom, tear up as she approached was truly moving. The ceremony, held in NOAC’s picturesque courtyard, was a perfect reflection of their love.
Afterwards, we kicked off a second line through the French Quarter. It was a blast to photograph so many friends celebrating and dancing in the streets. I even got some incredible portraits of the bride and groom in the lively streets of New Orleans.
We then headed into the reception, where I set up off-camera flashes to ensure everything was well-lit, as it was a bit dark outside. After dinner and a few heartfelt speeches, the dance floor opened up and the party really got going. The night ended with a beautiful bubble exit that made for the perfect final shot of the night.
As a New Orleans wedding photographer, it’s always a joy to capture not only the moments but the magic that this city brings to every celebration. This wedding was no exception—filled with love, laughter, and the unique charm that only a New Orleans photographer can fully capture.
