This intimate New Orleans wedding started off at the iconic Audubon Tree of Life, a place with rich history and sentimental value for me, as it’s where I used to hang out back in high school. The couple opted to skip the wedding prep photos, which allowed me to capture the ceremony solo and save them a bit of money without needing a second photographer. The sunset ceremony under the Tree of Life was absolutely beautiful, with perfect lighting and heartfelt readings. It’s truly a magical spot for any New Orleans wedding.
After the ceremony, I quickly captured family portraits and photos of the bride and groom. They were eager to get to their reception venue, and I understood why—the legendary clarinetist Doreen Ketchens had been hired to play a set at the reception. The couple even rented a stunning classic car to drive them to the Republic NOLA, where the reception took place. When we arrived, guests enjoyed a cocktail hour with Doreen Ketchens' incredible performance setting the mood.
As a New Orleans wedding photographer, it’s always a treat to photograph weddings in places that embody the city’s rich culture, like Republic NOLA. After the speeches and first dances, the night transformed into a lively celebration, with dancing and joy filling the space. Being part of this celebration reminded me why I love New Orleans wedding photography—it’s not just about the beauty of the locations, but also the vibrant energy that fills every moment of these special days.
